The bne.es and bne.gob.es domains are property of the Biblioteca Nacional de España (henceforth BNE), with headquarters at Paseo de Recoletos 20-22, Madrid.
The institutional website www.bne.es, the electronic headquarters https://sede.bne.gob.es, and all subdomains and directories included under them serve to provide general information and citizen attention services and are subject to the terms and conditions outlined in this Legal Notice; without prejudice to the above, access to any of these services or content may require acceptance of additional General Terms and Conditions.
The BNE reserves the right to make changes to the content and design of its institutional website without prior notice, with the aim of providing the best possible service to its users.
Intellectual Property
The content of the website is protected under the Intellectual Property Act and the rules and regulations protecting Intellectual Property, which is why, apart from the exceptions expressly provided for on that website, any use of the website's content shall require the BNE's express authorisation.
Use of images from the bne.es domain and its metadata
El usuario queda autorizado por la BNE a utilizar las imágenes en dominio público accesibles en cualquiera de las páginas pertenecientes al dominio bne.es, tanto para uso público comercial como para uso público no comercial.
En todo caso, el uso de dichas imágenes implicará citar como procedencia a la Biblioteca Nacional de España con el siguiente crédico: Imágenes procedentes de los fondos de la Biblioteca Nacional de España.
Such authorisation does not apply to works that are not in the public domain and whose exploitation rights are still protected under the Act on Intellectual Property. In such cases, the user shall have to contact the corresponding owners or the entities that have been granted the management of those rights.
Therefore, unless expressly specified otherwise, images in the public domain that are on the bne.es domain are under a CC-BY 4.0 Recognition license or equivalent.
Where high-resolution copies are required, whether or not for commercial or profit-making purposes, , the public-sector charges that appear in the Resolution on the BNE's Public-Sector Charges shall have to be paid. The BNE may apply reductions for social or public-interest reasons.
The metadata or descriptions of the BNE’s collections, accessible through its various catalogues, may be used even for commercial or profit-making purposes. In this case the CC0 1.0 Universal licence applies.

Term and conditions for re-using the catalogue's data sets
The BNE offers a comprehensive version of its automated catalogue in compressed files created from the various bibliographic formats and authority records.
The Catalogue data fall under the CCO licence, which is why they are free to use and do not require prior authorisation. In any case, the BNE shall appreciate mention of the records' origin.
The content of every file is updated between day 25 and 27 of the current month.

The website provides access to external pages which the BNE has no control over, which is why the it accepts no responsibility or liability for their content.
Personal Data
Personal data provided by users of the website to the BNE will be processed in compliance with the provisions of the Framework Act on the Personal Data Protection.

Interruptions
Where there are justified reasons for technical or operative maintenance, access to the institutional website and its services may be interrupted. Where there is an unplanned interruption in the electronic register's functioning, measures will be put in place, where possible, to inform users of these circumstances.
